What makes a person “heroic?”
What I think makes a person heroic is probably different than others, I would say that being a hero is putting your life on the line to save others.
Does a hero possess certain qualities? Or is a hero defined by his or her actions?
I dont think that a hero possesses qualities but they possess the will and bravery to help. Yes, I do think that a hero would be defined by his or her actions because he is attempting to rescue people.
Was Schindler a hero?
In my eyes I think that Schindler is most definitely a hero, the reason for this is because he save eleven hundred people and if you don't think that defines a hero, I don't what is.

In Memory to My Mother.
The poem I chose was In Memory to My Mother, for this poem some of my annotations were: (the starting lines of the poem- Where is your grave?
Where did you die?
Why did you go away?
Why did you leave your little girl
on that rainy autumn day?) This made me think that she was confused and she was sad that her other was not there. I think this because she is younger and will not think of death (but with time being in the camp) etc...
A part of the poem that I thought that stood out to me was around the middle, the sentence was; And then.... then you were gone, I suffered, but I didn't cry. This stood out to me because it made me think what I would have done myself if i was in this situation. In fact what would you do? Making a personal connection with this story would be hard because I have never been through this situation with my mum being taken away, and the holocaust. So, no I don't think that I could make a personal connection, the only connection I think I could make is the feeling of having my mum taken away, because a world without my mum is basically living a lie. This poem made me feel like crying because thinking about that happening to me, I don't think I would have enough strength like she did.

Germany 1918-1933
What were some conditions that were present that allowed Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party to take control of Germany in 1933?
Some conditions that were present we the markets were crashing, The reason they were crashing was because of the Treaty of Versailles, which made the value of money so low (as for Germany having to pay back for their debt from WW1). This gave Hitler the chance to say that "let us all ignore the Treaty of Versailles and let us make our own arrangements". He thought that everyone hated the Treaty and they will benefit from ignoring it, so he advertised this and then made everyone want to join his party.

Nuremberg Race Laws in Germany.
Who could now be defined as a "Jew"?.
People that could be defined as a jew were people with maybe, four or three Grandparents that are Jewish, even the people who have changed their religion to christianity. Even if a certain person (Jewish person) identified themselves as a jew or not, they were identified as a Jew.
What was meant by "Aryanizing" Jewish Businesses?
This means dismissing Jewish businesses, and letting non-Jewish Germans take over (the businesses).
How were Jews who were professionals (lawyers, doctors etc.) restricted?
They were were not allowed to attend to non-Jewish Germans, only being able to attend to their "own kind", this would most likely decrease the amount of money made by businesses.
What did Jewish identity cards need to include now?
The Jewish identity cards needed to include a red J stamped on the identity card, not only this but all Jews were required a new middle name: "Israel" for males, "Sara" for females. These cards allowed the Police to identify the Jews and the Germans
What was the "Law for the Protection of the Hereditary Health of the German People" (sum up in your own words)?
The "Law for the Protection of the Hereditary Health of the German People" is where German citizens had to get a clarification that that they were healthy enough or did not have diseases the can spread not only to their partners but their offspring (possibly). And also this allows a Jewish and non-Jewish Germans to marry (which obligates against the Nuremberg Race Laws.

Hitler takes Control: Targeting the Communists
What are Civil Rights? What are some that we have?
Civil rights are of course rights, but they are rights for citizens. Some civil rights that we have are police protection and also privacy.
Why might some of Hitler's measures in abolishing personal freedoms and Civil Rights be seen by some as a positive, or necessary move?
This may be positive because it was Hitlers goal to abolish the treaty of versailles and also because he wanted to become really powerful and a real patriot towards germany. And I think he succeeded. All in all I think he did this so he can gain the respect of other countries.
